ÓBIDOS
A Timeless Journey through Portugal’s past
Óbidos, is a charming medieval town located in the Leiria District, about 80 km north of Lisbon. Enclosed within its well-preserved city walls, the town is a maze of cobbled streets, whitewashed houses with bougainvillea, and a majestic castle. Given as a wedding gift to Portuguese queens for centuries, Óbidos has long been known as "The Town of Queens".

The Óbidos Castle, now a historic hotel, stands as the town’s crown jewel, while the Porta da Vila, adorned with blue-and-white azulejo tiles, serves as the grand entrance to the town. Óbidos hosts several annual festivals, including the famous International Chocolate Festival, a Medieval Fair, and a Christmas Village, transforming the town into a fairytale setting.

A must-try in Óbidos is Ginja de Óbidos, a traditional cherry liqueur often served in an edible chocolate cup.
