THE LOCATION

Casa das Descobertas is located in northern Portugal, in the charming village of Calvelo, within the municipality of Ponte de Lima, a part of Portugal called Minho. Minho, meaning "small" in English, is a picturesque area with small, self-sufficient farms and traditional wine houses. Some historians argue that this way of life can be traced back to Viking settlers who lived here over a thousand years ago.

Thanks to its northern location and closeness to the Atlantic Ocean, this region is beautifully green year-round, earning it the name Costa Verde, or the "Green Coast." The mild climate makes it a wonderful place to live, with cooling Atlantic breezes offering relief even during the hottest heat waves.

The most convenient way to reach our training center is by flying into Porto’s international airport. There are direct flights to Porto from Scandinavian cities such as Stockholm, Oslo, and Copenhagen. In addition, most major airports across Europe offer direct flights to Porto. Alternatively, you can fly to Vigo in Spain. The distance from  Porto and Vigo to Casa das Descobertas is roughly the same.

 

From there, you can rent a car or, if preferred, we can assist in organizing transportation to Casa das Descobertas. There is also buses from Porto airport to Braga and Ponte de Lima. You will find our training center here.
